Pasture Raised - Stress Free - Happy Healthy Animals

Pigs on pasture

Our pasture raised, Berkshire pigs are considered to be the pork equivalent of American Wagyu or Kobe beef.  Known as Kurobuta in Japan, this heritage breed is prized for it's rosy red color, slightly sweet flavor, and exceptional marbling.  Also, we let our pigs be pigs - wallowing, rubbing, and rooting are the three behaviors that distinguish swine from other barnyard animals, and allowing them to indulge in these behaviors is the cornerstone of our program.

A personal favorite at Ancestral Acres, the Katahdin hair sheep are the bedrock of our grass-based enterprise.  They are an incredibly efficient grazing machine, turning grass and forbs into the most succulent meat imaginable.  Born and raised right here on the farm our lambs are 100% grass fed and finished.  And due to their hardiness and resilient nature not a sheep in the flock is administered antibiotics, vaccinations, or MRNA.

Chickens love to peck, scratch and roam and that's what our Freedom Rangers get to do. These birds are much more active than the typical white Cornish Cross birds that you'll see in the conventional setting. They also grow into their bodies a little slower, the way nature intended. Even though they are always looking to fill their bellies with bugs, we do supplement them with a non-GMO, antibiotic-free feed. Our happy birds taste best!

As natural as the sky under which they're grazed, our grass-fed and finished beef has 2-5 times higher levels of omega-3s than that of beef raised in confinement and fed largely a grain-based diet.  They boast higher levels of other beneficial nutrients as well: Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), another good fat, is 2-5 times higher.  Antioxidants are 10-50 times higher.  Also, grass-fed beef contains significantly higher amounts of vitamins, minerals, calcium, and even dietary fiber.  And that's great, but let's get down to brass tacks... our Kansas grown beef is delicious!
